Unrestored early PORSCHE 911 2.0 with short wheelbase in patinated condition with very good mechanicals and body condition.

INQUIRY ABOUT THIS VEHICLE

The Porsche 911 is probably the sports car of the century and leaves no one untouched. This is all the more true of the early production years and models, whose original shape and engine sound still enjoy great popularity worldwide. The genuine form of the 911 with 2.0-litre engine and short wheelbase, which is offered here, dates from the beginning of the production period of the so-called “F model” when Porsche was still producing the last examples of the 356 series simultaneously, but its time had passed.

This vehicle was produced in March 1965 and delivered to its first owner through an authorised dealer in California. The 911 remained in the USA for four decades before being exported to Canada in 2004. Just one year later, the current owner shipped it to Germany via New York, largely in as-is condition. The car later received a German MOT check with a classic car approval and has been registered entirely since 2012.

The Porsche is characterised by a very good body condition, which is largely original. Repairs were only carried out in the floor area at the front left and a replacement of the right sill. Deviating from the factory specification is the 2-litre engine from a 1968 model, which here is fitted with the sought-after Weber carburettors. Furthermore, the car is optimised with stainless steel heat exchangers and Bilstein shock absorbers, which ensure even better roadholding.

INQUIRY ABOUT THIS VEHICLE

The car was repainted from its original colour “slate grey” to the current shade of blue back in the 1970s and shows a sympathetic patina – a far cry from the numerous antiseptically restored examples on the market. The correct green instruments behind the large wooden steering wheel and the many details that distinguish an early 65 from the model after the factory holidays (from August of that year) are present and make this 911 desirable!

INQUIRY ABOUT THIS VEHICLE

The Porsche rides on 15″ steel rims by Lemmerz with chrome hubcaps and Michelin XWX tyres, as is correct for this year of construction. The car is well maintained and offers excellent mechanicals – the response and performance of the six-cylinder engine are therefore also absolutely convincing. The 911 proved its reliability on numerous trips, rallies and journeys throughout Europe. This vehicle is not a showcase specimen, but there to be driven and experienced!

The contemporary colour scheme, which reflects the spirit of the 1960s, gives this early model a special appeal that is hard to resist. Today, as in the past, the vehicle is a fast car that releases strong emotions and, as an early example, offers great potential in terms of its further value development. But apart from that you can also simply concentrate on “driving in its most beautiful form”…
